TMR Tots Videos

This is the amazing story about Lucien.  See his results and then listen to his mother speak about how TMR helped change his life.

Here's his Mom - this will make you cry!

Total Motion Release is a doing an amazing job with children with Torticollis.  Check this out.  If you would like to learn more, please check out www.totalmotionrelease.com and go to the message board and look for posts by Susan Blum.

Summary of the Video:

Child is 9 month old w/ torticollis who had been treated with weekly PT by previous therapist from age 6 month to 9 months. After reported small improvement with traditional approach she stopped progressing and developed aversion to touch in left neck area.

First segment is visit #1
Neck rotation to the left was 60 degrees and lateral flexion to the right was zero.  Note severe associated limitations in range of motion in trunk - Initially she only had 15% upper trunk twist to right and 30% trunk side bend.
Functional limitation: unable to rotate to the left side in highchair.  In middle segment child thinks she's relaxing and playing with phone. She's not aware that this is a treatment (modified sidelying lower trunk twist- one of the Fab 5 releases that was most effective!

Improvement 50% noted at visit #2.

At each visit all Fab 5 motions were rechecked and home program of releases modified depending on rank. Therapeutic play activities in newly achieved ranges updated. Range of motion in neck was noted but there was no direct treatment to the neck.

Final segment is visit #5. After 5 visits with TMR approach dramatic functional improvement. Child is now fully mobile with 90% trunk twist to bad side in high chair and resolving torticollis!

Lot's more fun than painful stretching!

Child w/ Cerebral Palsy age 28-35 months

First scene: (sunsuit)
When this child transferred to my care at 27 mo./ 26 days she was unable to hold a spoon to feed herself due to zero forearm supination. Her hip flexors and hamstrings were severely limited in range making it difficult for her to pull to stand at furniture. Approximately 80% of her weight bearing was on the right foot which was associated with shortening on the left side of her trunk. Sitting was also with weight bearing on the right ischial tuberosity and she sat on her sacrum. There was minimal active control in her overlengthened hip extensors.

Within the first 8 weeks she had increased range in forearm pronators which allowed development of active control into supination so that she could now feed herself independently with a spoon.
Key releases included: assisted sit to stand with maximum assistance (shown) , leg lifts and trunk twists.

Second scene: (longjohns)
At age 33 months she was able to take her first steps, but unable to stand in place.
Balance was emerging but still limited due to left side tightness. Continued intensive TMR were followed by balance exercises to improve strength in areas after release.
Key releases the same. Most beneficial was combination sidebend/ twist w/ extension (shown). Note; At the end of this session child unsteady initially as she unused to new available range into hip extension.

Third scene.: (pink sweat suit)
By age 34 months she could take additional steps, but arms still in high guard and unable to stand in place. Continues to crawl for mobility. Note first clip getting up from bench, difficult due to limited range in hips, but at end of session standing straighter.
Key releases now leg lift into extension (shown) and arm raise..

Fourth scene: (short sleeves)
At age 35 months independent on steps and levels!   Fine tuning hip control with 75% improvement in range. No longer crawling. Hip extensor strength continues to improve weekly with sit to stand with minimal assistance. Squats with ease. Note forearm supination as she reaches overhead.   Watch me go!
