Have people used TMR in patients whose main complaint is LBP with radiculat sxs with walking? I have a handful of patients who are limited to about 2 minutes of walking hten theri sxs begin, relieved fairly quickly with seated rest. I am trying to convince them to perform the TMR positions 5-10 times a day, but compliance at that rate is tough. Has anyone experienced positive results, and how long would I have to wait since initiating TMR to see a change in their ability to walk?

This pretty much sums up the type of patients we see at our clinic. Nobody is going to want to do this 5-10 times a day. Your goal is to get them to do one exercise (one that reduces it the most) and do it several times a day. Tell them not to just do 2 sets, but do it until it no longer works (plateaus) and then increase reps or duration for 1 or 2 more sets until everything is gotten from that exercise. I tell them do it about 6-8 times for that one session. that should do it. Each day re-test the FAB 5 and do the top 1 or 2 exercises.

Tom, So you are having them do it until it no longer works, then 6-8 times, or total about 6-8 times?

I agree. Do the FAB 5 and do the top 1 or 2 exerc. Compliance with 'reps' is > with 1 or 2 exercises rather than multiple exercises. They are ususally willing to do multiple reps if they get 'some' relief from only 1 or 2 exercises. This also lays the foundation for further TMR stuff with the patient. It builds their confidence and yours.
