Question by Michele:
Wondering what your take on foot orthotics is...
Thought it might be a colorful one. I have my own but very interested in yours.

Answer by Tom:
I am not much for orthotics the way they are currently being used. They don't instantly make the person feel better typically when put them under both feet.

You know me - I want to see positive results immediately and if results are shown I continue with that process.

Here is how I have used orthotics. I have at times put only 1 on the patient and it did the trick. The patient knew however as they are correcting their balance throughout their body that they need to retest to see if still needed.

Here is THE WAY to determine if Orthotics will produce results:
I am big into testing and re-testing. I simply have them stand and feel what their body feels like or have them squat or do whatever there issue is. Then I put one orthotic on and retest, then both and retest, and then only the other one on and retest. You get the picture. So you have 4 tests, without orthotics, with one on left, with one on right and with both on. See what they feel best in. Make sense?
